There are many tasks that we perform in a certain order.
In math, certain operations must be done before others!
Jan and Felix are solving for the area of the following patio. They agree that to solve for the area they need to solve the equation
\(A=11^2-2\times3^2\)
Felix says:
'First multiply \(2\) by \(3\), and then square the result. Then, subtract that result from \(11^2\).'
Jan says:
'First we evaluate \(11^2\) and then evaluate \(3^2\). Then, we multiply \(2\) by the result of \(3^2\). Finally, we will subtract.'
Explain which student is correct and why.
