Lesson Goals
- Investigate the properties of slope for both parallel and perpendicular lines.
- Using the properties of slope, solve problems involving parallel and perpendicular lines.
Try This
There is a community called "Little Italy" in a large city. The boundary of their community has it's vertices located as follows: \(A(3,8)\), \(B(4,4)\), \(C(14,6.5)\), and \(D(15,11)\). Using the slopes of the streets (line segments), determine if this community is shaped like a rectangle, a parallelogram, or a trapezoid.
