Lesson Goals

  • Determine how changing the slope and/or \(y\)-intercept of a linear relation affects the graph and equation of the relation.

Try This

Marsha is looking to join a yoga studio. She has found a company that charges an initial sign up fee of \($125\) and then \($15\) per hour of class she attends. She is now thinking she would prefer to pay a higher sign up fee but a lower cost per hour and is looking for another company to join.

If she finds a second company that meets her desired fee structure, how would the graphs of the relationship between total cost and the number of hours of class attended, compare between the two companies?
