Recall
A solution of an equation is a value that satisfies the equation.
That is, a solution is a value that, if substituted into the equation, will make the equation true.
So far, you have probably encountered linear equations, which have only one solution.
For example:
\(3x-7=8\)
Solution:
\(x=5\), since \(3(5)-7=8\).
Now we will introduce quadratic equations, which often have more than one solution.
